Catalogue Note
A good example of Freikörperkultur, the cult of naturism and athletic prowess, much seen in Jugendstil and expressionist art, of which Krull was for a period an enthusiastic exponent. The Kara-Kunstdruck appellation refers to the short-lived studio shared by Germaine Krull and Kurt Hübschmann in Berlin between 1922 -24, and which Krull continued to use alone for a few years after that. Hübschmann became a distinguished contributor to Picture Post under the name Kurt Hutton.
