  • point of the brush and grey wash over black chalk

purchased in 1799 by William Esdaile (L.2617), his mount, with numbering and attribution in brown ink: 222_2/H. Verschuring., his inscription and shelf numbering in brown ink, verso of the mount: Griffier Fagels colln. 1799. WE. P109. N222
bears unidentified collector's mark, lower right of mount (not in Lugt).
