Florentine School, 16th Century

The single panel appears to have a restored split down the centre which has now been reinforced by a canvas lining on the reverse, a piece of board and two vertical wooden battens. The lower left section of the panel has broken off. There are two further vertical cracks running through the paint surface. Due to these cracks and the craquelure there have been a few paint losses which have been infilled and subsequently discoloured. There is fairly extensive retouching throughout, notably along the central split and the cracks. These flouresce clearly undewr UV light. Offered in a modern wooden frame in excellent condition.
