Description

  • An architectural Capriccio with ships at anchor beyond
  • indistinctly inscribed lower right: Le Palais de Genoa
  • oil on canvas

Provenance

Lady Abdernon (according to a label on the reverse).

Condition

The canvas is unlined. There are several scattered restored holes which are patched to the reverse. The paint surface is, however, largely stable and the cracquelure is secured by the varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered retouchings throughout and these are particularly extensive to the sky. Offered in a wood and plaster gilt frame.
