and engraved on the reverse with royal cypher (Carolus Rex) of Charles I (reigned 1625-1649) or Charles II (1660-1685)

Condition

The support consists of a single oak panel which has a slight convex bow. The panel is uncradeled and unbevelled. The paint surface is in excellent condition although it is covered by a slightly discoloured varnish and would therefore benefit from a light surface clean. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious retouchings.
