Catalogue Note
A smaller, upright, version of this subject hangs in the monastery of the church of the Padri Somaschi all Maddalena in Genoa (see B. Suida Manning et al., under Literature, p. 60). No other versions of this rare subject are known by Cambiaso and it is on this basis that the present work can probably be identified with the painting formerly in the Capuchin church in Perugia.
