"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
The panel is oak with a later painted back. There is a repaired and reinforced central join which is unstable. Restorations to the sky and along the join are visible under u-v light. The removal of the discoloured varnish will improve tonality."
