There is some instability of the paint surface along the wood grain(horizontal) and minor flaked paint loss which has been retouched out e.g. near the mounted huntsman and in the foreground lower right. Discoloured varnish."

The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."

Catalogue Note

Isaac van Oosten painted several hunting scenes, in a stage-like setting, creating space by using a strong diagonal formed by an open space; see also the signed pair of Hunting scenes sold, London, Sotheby's, 6 July 2000, lot 51.

An extrememly similar composition to this, also signed, was sold Cologne, Kunsthaus am Museum, 25-28 June 1986, lot 1095.
