Catalogue Note
The town of Nieuwersluis is located nine miles from Utrecht, at the junction between the river Vecht and the Nieuwer Vaart canal. The artist appears to have depicted the town as seen from the east bank of the river; the distant spire beyond the bridge may be that of Utrecht Cathedral.
