Catalogue Note
Although this was attributed to Lemoyne, it seems most uncharacteristic of his work. Instead, it is in the more muscular and dramatic tradition of Coypel or even Louis de Boullogne. It was undoubtedly a study for a figure in a ceiling decoration.
