bidding is closed

Description

  • Benedetto Luti
  • recto: the head of christverso: study for a flagellation
  • bears old numbering in black chalk on the verso: 32
  • black chalk (recto and verso); drawn on two joined pieces of paper, made up above and below the smaller sheet (to the left of the recto);
    a partial study of a head in red chalk on the verso of the smaller sheet

Condition

The sheet is made up of five pieces of paper, but it appears that the artist himself joined the two principal sheets of paper (where you have the figure of Christ). One square piece at the top is modern and the two other strips of smaller paper at the bottom may also date from when the drawing was restored. The chalk is still fresh, although the paper appears slightly buckeld, and slightly foxed.
