Description

  • Jacob Bürgi
  • a pair of landscapes: travellers on a road with a river beyond; figures and cattle by a lake
  • both gouache on vellum

Condition

Both seem to have suffered a little in the sky; there is also rubbing along the edges, which has caused a darkening of the surface and also small losses to the pigment. This, however, is covered by the mounts of both gouaches. The landscape with the mill to the left has some small brown stains in the upper right corner, again covered by the mount. The landscape with the shepherd also has some tiny losses to the lower right, near the edge.
