Description

  • Pauline Auzou
  • portrait of a lady, said to be a self-portrait
  • signed (?) in pen and brown ink: Dessiné par Mme P. Auzou
  • black chalk

Condition

The drawing is laid down on what appears to be an acid mount, which is probably contemporary to the drawing, due to the inscription on its reverse (see sale room notice). However, the sheet is in remarkably good condition, with only one small fox mark above the sitter's left shoulder. The paper is otherwise clear, and the chalk is very fresh and strong. Sold in a modern frame.

Catalogue Note
