Description

  • Alexandre Jean Noël
  • a pair of marine landscapes: shipping in stormy waters and a three-masted ship firing near a harbour
  • one signed, lower left: Noël
  • watercolour and gouache;
    each bears numbering on mount, lower right: 121/648; 122/748

Condition

Sold in elaborate French 19th Century frames. Both laid down on what appear to be 19th backing mounts, and made up slightly around the edges in gouache. Both are in excellent condition. The shipping in rough seas has a small dark spot stain to the left of the masted ship, but otherwise is clear. The other sheet has some very tiny, faint fox marks, but otherwise is very fresh.
