Catalogue Note
7 Reece Mews, South Kensington, London was Francis Bacon's home and studio from 1961 until his death in 1992. Ogden was commissioned by the Hugh Lane to photograph Bacon's living and working space before his studio was moved to its present location in Dublin. In contrast to the famously chaotic studio where layers of paint and materials built up over more than 30 years, the present work reveals the spartan order of his sleeping and living area.
