Catalogue Note
Depicting the dramatic proportions of the Palmhouse in the Belfast Botantical Gardens, the present work demonstrates the artist's ongoing exploration of the dynamic interaction between architecture and the natural world.
Born in Belfast, McWilliams studied at the University of Ulster and the Royal Academy Schools, London. He has won seventeen awards in the last eight years and has had solo shows at galleries such as the Solomon Gallery, Dublin and the John Martin Gallery, London. His work is also included in the collections of institutions such as the Ulster Museum, Belfast; the Arts Council of Northern Ireland; the Allied Irish Bank and the Queens University, Belfast.
