Raymond C.Yard (1885-1958) established a jewellery business in 1922.  He started from very humble beginnings, at the age of thirteen he was working as a door boy for Marcus & Co. Yard went on to become one of their top salesmen before opening his own Fifth Avenue shop.   John D. Rockefeller was an admirer of his style and encouraged his friends and family to patronize his salon. On his death the firm passed to his protégé Robert Gibson, and the company is now run by Gibson's son Bob.
