Description
The cylindrical hinged case of herringbone pattern applied with channel-set lines of calibré-cut sapphires and a concealed retractable pencil, opening to reveal a mirror and three compartments, containing a lipstick holder and vesta case respectively, to rose-cut diamond thumb pieces, measuring approximately 85mm x 40mm x 30mm, numbered, French assay marks, writing tablet to reverse of mirror and make-up element deficient.
Condition
Weight approximately 160.3 grams. Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold and numbered 55656 to inner hinge. Inventory number 990 to the inside rim. The sapphires of bluish-violet colour, weak to strong saturation, few stones chipped. Very slight indentation to outer surface of case. Discolouration to mirror edges and flaking to edges of mirror backing. Concealed retractable pencil stamped 750 for 18 carat gold to link, considerably dented and fitting poorly to compartment. Difficult to remove. Some scratches and signs of wear both inside and outside of case, consistent with age and use. In overall good condition.
