Catalogue Note
Mäda Primavesi was the daughter of Otto Primavesi, a prominent Viennese banker and, after 1914, a principal backer and patron of the Wiener Werkstatte. Primavesi commissioned a portrait of his daughter from Klimt in 1912. The present work is a study for the portrait now in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
