Catalogue Note
To be included in the forthcoming Catalogue Critique de l'Oeuvre Sculpté d'Auguste Rodin, being prepared by the Comité Auguste Rodin under the archive number 2006V919B.
Conceived circa 1889. According to Francois Lorenceau and Jérôme Le Blay, five examples of this bronze were cast by the Alexis Rudier foundry between 1917 and 1945, and another eleven examples were cast by the Georges Rudier foundry between 1964 and 1979. The present example was cast in October 1945
