Attractive black patina. Apart from a slight wear to the patina at the exposed areas, this work is in good condition.

Cette sculpture représente Diane Bataille, femme du célèbre écrivain George Bataille dont Alberto Giacometti fait la connaissance vers 1929. Elle est à rapprocher d'une petite peinture d'une tête de Diane Bataille sculptée (fig. 1), réalisée par l'artiste en 1947. A cette date en effet, Giacometti illustre le livre de Bataille intitulé Méthode de méditation, Histoire de rats (Journal de Dianus).
