circular, the lid inset with a carved ivory relief of The Bronze Horseman, Falconet's monument to Peter the Great, inscribed in Cyrillic, under glass on a black ground, the sides and base engine-turned with finely reeded and corded bands

Condition

Generally very good condition. There is an internal fissure in the glass lid at the edge at 6 o'clock. The ivory relief with separations at the horse's ankles, and one spot of discolouration at lower right (visible in catalogue photo).
