probably Russian, late 19th century or early 20th century



with pommel-form nephrite handle, the gold cushion reeded and gadrooned, the circular white chalcedony matrix engraved with the coat of arms of Ouroussov, scratched inventory numbers 294F and B1/-/-

Condition

Excellent condition. There are very minor surface scratches to the gold; in one place it appears that the gold was scratched for testing.

Catalogue Note

The Ouroussov (Urussoff) family were created Princes in 1801 and served the Imperial Court closely for several generations.  Prince Serge Leonidovich Ouroussov (b. 1872), among other members of his family, was a Gentleman of the Chamber.
