circular, the lid inset with an oval enamel plaque painted with Achilles deprived of Briseis by Patroclus in the Greek camp, on an opalescent ground, the box striped in gold on pale rose poudre d'écaille, reeded gold mounts and hinges, tortoiseshell lining

Condition

The box has an unusually irregular profile, probably due to having been taken apart and reassembled. A number of the gold strips on the base are raised or slightly crumpled. We would recommend viewing this lot in person before bidding.
