maker's mark FJ in script between sunrays, circa 1800, further struck with Viennese early 19th century import mark



rectangular with cut corners, the lid painted en plein with a portrait of Archimedes at work on the walls of Syracuse, within vine leaf  engraved panels, the sides and base enamelled in translucent blue over engine-turning within cerulean blue and gold borders
