France and England, late 18th/early 19th century



the first with gold navette-shaped bezel engraved with the date: Le/ 20/ Frimaire/ l'an/ 6 (10 December 1797), bright-cut border; the second enamelled in black and white, the swivelling bezel with hair compartment on one side and an urn and motto: Not lost but gone before; the third with secret hinged compartment below the word: Fidélité, beaded shank

Condition

1st - gold backing to bezel is crumpled and torn at one end (not visible when worn) 2nd - inscribed: "Esther Bennett, Ob. 25 Nov. 1809, Aet. 31" on interior, later French ET import mark; glass on hair compartment cracked and no hair inside; enamel with very minor abrasions 3rd - good condition, Paris petite garantie 1819-1838
