Catalogue Note
The thousand-year anniversary which the chalice celebrates is that of William the Conqueror's 1072 order moving the bishopric of the largest diocese in Medieval Britain from Dorchester, near Oxford, to Lincoln. The new cathedral was completed in 1092.
