A superb early example from the "Sculpted Front" series.

Condition
Overall very good condition. The metal surfaces of the case with surface scratches, rubbing to paint and lifting to a few of the metal plates. The sculpted steel door is currently hanging slightly lower to the proper right side. As a result the magnet which keeps the piece closed is just holding the door closed. With a slight jostling, the door will open. the hinge should probably be replaced. The interior compartment opens to reveal two removable and adjustable shelves. The sculpted portion with surface dirt and minor rubbing. The drawers to the proper right side all open easily and are in fine condition. Minor losses to the gold foil to the exterior. Due to the current position of the sculptured front door, the top three drawers bump the edge of the steel door. Each of the drawers with minor chips and losses to the edges as a result of rubbing. It appears that this piece was likely hung at some point in its history, but it is difficult to determine if the orginal intent was for the piece to be a hanging or floor piece. The back of the case with holes. The reverse is not finished and therefore the piece is certainly meant to be shown flush against the wall. The lower black wood bar appears to have been added later. A superb example of the early years of collaboration between Evans and Powell and the earliest example of the "sculpted front" pattern to be seen.
