Catalogue Note

A few inches shorter than "Conoid" dining chairs, the "Conoid Lounge" chair model was originally design in 1980 for a Japanese architect. In 1985, a set was made for the permanent Japanese gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

In 1991 a set of seven "Conoid Lounge" chairs was executed by Mira Nakashima for Dr. Arthur and Evelyn Krosnick (see Sotheby's New York, December 15, 2006, Lot 314).

Only a few others are known to exist. Extremely comfortable, they can be used in a living room setting.
