Catalogue Note

Niemeyer's most popular design, the first appearance of the lounge chair and ottoman was a bent steel version, produced by Mobilier International, for the Parti Communiste Francais (PCF) building in Paris (1967-1980). A bentwood version was first producted in 1978 by Tendo.

"It is not the right angle that attracts me, nor the straight line, hard and inflexible, created by man.  What attracts me is the face and sensual curve... the curve I find in the mounts of my country, in the sinuous course of its rivers, in the body of the beloved woman.  The entire universe is made of the curved universe of Einstein."
