RUBY AND DIAMOND BROOCH/PENDANT, LATE 19TH CENTURY

Description
Designed as a sixteen pointed star, centring on a pinched collet-set cushion-shaped ruby, within a border of circular-cut diamonds, further decorated with variously-shaped rubies, accented with circular- and rose-cut diamonds, pendant loop fitting.
Condition
Mounted in gold. Rubies a medium purplish (pinkish) hue with moderately strong saturation of colour, typical inclusions visible when worn, a few with small nicks and chips. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 2.30 - 2.50 carats, mixed colours and clarities, bright stones. Scratches to mounting consistent with wear, small areas of oxidisation to reverse, not visible when worn. Heavy brooch weighing approximately 25.2 grams. In very good condition.
