from the Münchhausen service, painted in puce camaieu and gilt with a fantastical animal in a rocky landscape surrounded by small birds and insects, the rim with the Münchhausen arms beneath a coronet and with a foliate scroll border, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue and impressed numeral 16. Two small ground chips to rim edge.
Condition
Two 1/2 in. ground rim chips and 12 o'clock and 9 o'clock, which are gilded over and are not particularly obtrusive. The gild details in the central panel may have been retouched.
