Catalogue Note

the carved gilt gesso detail and the use of verre églomisé borders may be compared to the work of the Pelletier family of carvers and gilders. Of French Huguenot origin, the family included Renéé and her sons John and Thomas, John (1690-1710) being recorded as carrying out a number of commissions for William III and Mary II at the palaces at Kensington and Hampton Court.
