Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The painting appears to be in generally good condition. There are minor abrasion marks near the edges of the canvas, probably from the frame. The horizontal mark along the bottom of the canvas is more pronounced. Overall the painting is in clean and presentable condition. ULTRAVIOLET Ultraviolet light reveals minor re-touching to the background, and infilling to cracquelure on the sitter's face, front and right hand. UV shows the painting to be in generally good condition. FRAME Held in a gilt wood and moulded plaster frame.
