Description

  • height 16 1/8in. (41cm)
the body chased with asymmetrical cartouches flanked by roses and scrolls, engraved with on one side with initial S, the top of the acanthus-wrapped handles joining the body with scrolls, roses and fruit above applied owl masks, raised on a narrow neck chased with flutes ending in tight scrolls at the lobed base, on four paw feet, marked on base and numbered 15044-1699.  Together with similar ladle, the handle cast with ram's head, fruit and acanthus, the terminal with a mask of Bacchus, engraved with initial S, Gorham Mfg., Co., Providence, RI, 1875, numbered 29; 2 pieces

some salt stains to interior of cup, the ladle later engraved, good condition
