Catalogue Note

Even though Charles Carmel's craftsmanship is evident in much of his work, it was not until 1908 that he hit his stride and found a style that showcased both his design and carving abilities. His horses were combinations of motion, fantasy and practicality. And although he would use similar elements in his work, no two outside row figures were the same. The mane and face on this horse represent some of his best work.
