Description

  • Length: 51 cm
of ovoid form and plano-convex section, the front decorated with carved inset triangular and diamond motifs infilled with traces of blue pigment (Reckett's Blue Washing Powder), the surface with traces of worn bands of linear design and much battle scarring, the reverse with four larger triangular motifs inset and filled with blue pigment and branded twice with the letters LC, deep cut lug handle

Condition

Shield shows no evidence of repair or restoration. There are various sections indented and small chunks missing, which are indicative of much use.
