Description

  • Length: 75 cm
carved in softwood of bi-convex section, the curved front decorated with incised linear geometric motifs and the reverse replete with deep cut lug handle

Condition

A substantial section, approximatley 19 cm long is missing from the lower left section of the shield. The entire surface appears to have been stained with a red brown pigment, which may have been done recently and by an amateur restorer. There are many scuffs and wears to all edges of the shield.
