Description
- Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti
- Daybed
- oak and wrought iron with fabric upholstery
Condition
Very good overall condition with minor wear to the veneered surfaces consisting of scratches, nicks and minor dings. Two of the top corners of the frame with veneer losses. One end of the daybed with a prior restoration and area of infill extending three inches. This appears sensitively executed. The top end of frame with evidence of liquid damage which extends 1/3 of the depth of the arm. This appears as a splatter. Small areas of isolated rings to the other arm and the frame under the cushion area. A very minor area of veneer lifting along the base. Each of the chipped wood feet with numerous scattered stress fractures consistent with natural shrinkage and age. One foot with three larger cracks with minor separation. The metal feet are in very good condition with only minor scratches. The upholstered cushions are in very good condition with evidence of fading, likely due to exposure to sunlight. The large seat cushion with the most fading to the center portion and the top of the upturned edges. The pillows were placed at the ends, and therefore the fabric in those areas with less sun fading. The smaller cushions themselves with only one side faded. Very little evidence of soiling.
