Condition
Overall in good condition. The white painted frame appears to have re-painted possible at the time of the design. The frame with scattered scratches, losses to paint and minor chips throughout and with evidence of brushstrokes from the re-painting. The two small side tables are removable. The reverse of the frame with a recent area of losses to the paint where an adhesive was applied and the removal has resulted in small chips of paint in a vaguely rectangular pattern. The leather cushions have a nice patina, with rubbing, scratches, minor areas of discoloration and general wear throughout. Greater rubbing and crazing to the piping and top surfaces of the armrests, which is visible in the catalogue illustration. Six of the original buttons of the cushions have come off, but all remain with the original stitching material with the piece. One of the back cushions with an abraded area which is darker in color and with more pronounced crazing and cracking due to dryness. This area with losses to the top surface of the leather, but remains in tact. All of the back cushions are double sided and therefore it can be placed so as to not be seen. Two seat cushions with stains and discoloration to the front as seen in the catalogue illustration. One of the seat cushions is missing its metal vent of the side. The two side cushions with Velcro to remain in place. Leather is soft and the cushions are worn, but remain stable. The ottomans with similar scratches, chips to paints and nicks to the frames and wear to the cushions including scratches, crazing and rubbing. The ottomans and front edge of the sofa with castors. This is an early example of the form, which remains in very good condition considering its age.
