Description
The necklace designed as a series of clusters, each centring on an oval cabochon turquoise within surrounds of circular-cut diamonds, suspending at the front a similarly designed pear-shaped drop, together with a pair of ear pendants and a brooch en suite, necklace length approximately 420mm, ear pendants with clip fittings, later alterations and fittings.
Provenance
By family tradition this necklace was formerly in the possession of Empress Eugenie.
Condition
Estimated total diamond weight approximately 42.0 carats in the necklace, approximately 3.0 carats per cluster, approximately 4.60 - 5.0 carats in the brooch, approximately 7.20 - 7.50 carats in the earrings. Bright stones, mixed clarities. Oval cabochon turquoise well matched in size, ranging from a pale greenish blue to a darker green blue. Very stiff clasp on the necklace. Frame reverse a little scratched consistent with age and wear. Pendant drops removable from ear clips. Probably has been very well cleaned recently no discolouration or aged patina to metal that one would expect in a piece of this age. Please note as mentioned in the cataloguing that there have been some later alterations to this piece. The earrings and brooch have been assembled from links originally part of the necklace. In very good condition.
