Catalogue Note

The present model belongs to a Spanish genre of iconic enthroned Virgin and Child groups dating from the 12th to the 14th Centuries, of which there are several examples in the Museu Diocesà de Lleida.

This impressive Romanesque group was sold to a previous collector with an alternative attribution, describing it as Auverne and dating from the 12th century.
