Description

  • interlaced LL monogram enclosing date letter q and painter's mark ch in blue
  • the saucer: 15.8cm., 16 1/4 in.; the cup: 8cm., 3 1/8 in. high
painted by Étienne-Jean Chabry with scenes of pastoral lovers in landscape settings after Boucher and Fragonard, respectively, within double wavy gilt border reserved against the blue ground, the rims with similar gilt wavy borders enclosing a band of foliage on a seeded ground, the reverse of the saucer with a gilt band of entwined foliage enclosing alternating dotted patterns over a line border

Condition

the rim of the saucer with a restored chip (circa 5cm. by 1cm.) and some black specking to the glaze of the reverse, very light scratching to the painting, otherwise in good condition
