Description

the first probably representing Bakula seated and wearing long monk's robes crossed over at the chest and covering his body, his left arm and hand covered completely, his right hand holds a mongoose, the Luohan's attribute; the reverse cast with an inscription recording that the figure was donated by several donors sponsoring 100 jin of iron on the second month of the 13th year of the Chenghua period (1477); the other figure seated in rajalila asana with his hands resting on top of each other against his raised right shin, similarly dressed, the reverse with an inscription recording that the figure was donated by several donors in the 16th year of the Chenghua period (1480)

Condition

The two figures are in good overall condition, the figure of Bakula with several small casting flaws/holes to the lower right hand side of the back, one of them ca. 5x4cm and with an associated crack running down to the base.
