Description

of rectangular form, the inner field with archaistic floral strapwork, all within borders of key scroll and floral strapwork, all picked out in blue and gold against a rich red ground

Condition

The throne carpet is in good overall condition for its age, with the exception of minor fraying and loss to the embroidery to the upper and lower sections of the design; light areas fading; and some minor staining. Itshould be noted that the red ground and blue embroidery are both of a slightly richer tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
