Description

of slender ovoid form surmounted by a cylindrical neck, skillfully carved to the exterior with a pair of pheasant perched upon flowering and budding peony and prunus trees issuing from gnarled branches and garden rocks, all reserved against a floral diaper ground, with a keyfret at the raised mouthrim, the interior and base lacquered black

Condition

There are some expected age cracks to the top of the neck. There are two small losses to the carving, the largest near the bottom of the vase approx 0.5 by 0.1cm. The mouthrim has been relacquered. Otherwise the piece is generally in very good condition overall.
