Description

of archaistic gu form, the globular central section supported on a high bell-shaped foot and surmounted by a tall widely flaring trumpet neck, brightly and finely painted around the body with the bajixiang amid large lotus blooms on dense scrolling leafy stems, between stiff plantain leaves and keyfret bands, with ruyi heads around the mouth with gilt rim, all reserved on a bright yellow ground, the base of the neck with the six-character seal mark in iron-red, the interior and foot glazed turquoise

Condition

Overall the vase is in good condition overall, apart from minor expected rubbing to the gilding at the mouthrim, and slight rubbing to the blue enamel and black border at the foot.
