- an oak figure of the Virgin and Child
standing on a crescent moon with cherubs heads, mounted on oak stand (2)
Condition
The overall condition of the figure is good but the orb and crescent moon on which she stands have worm damage which no longer appears to be active. One piece of foliage ( light colour) on left side of left cherub is later and is now detached and on the right hand side one wing of cherub is detached and there are traces of woodworm within. ( These are now in a sealed bag. Old repair to vertical break between back of the Christ Child and the Virgin's arm; another to the tip of the proper left side of the crescent moon. On later carved wood base.
