Description

  • A polychrome wood relief of St. Anna Selbdritt
the seated figures of the Virgin and St. Anne centred by the standing figure of the Christ Child holding a bunch of grapes, much original polychrome and gilding

Condition

Overall condition good with wear to gilding and polychrome consitant with age. There is evidence that the faces have been refreshed but there appears to be the original colour beneath. MInor evidence of wood worm visible on the front but there is more evident on the back. Left and right edges separately attached but original with small section) 2cm long inserted to the bottom left and right (visible in the catalogue photograph). Central figure carved from two separate panels which have been joined; this join has been strengthened on the back at a later date. with glue
