Description

  • crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to rear of base, incised 6
  • 12.7cm., 4 7/8 in.
probably modelled by J.J. Kändler, wearing a pale-yellow hat with purple ribbon, green-lined purple jacket with gilt buttons, purple breeches and yellow shoes with purple ribbons, the scroll-moulded base edged ingilding and applied with leaves and flowers

Catalogue Note

Also known as Roger Teasdale, this figure is based upon an engraving by Pierce Tempest after Marcellus Laroon the Elder, "A Merry new Song", published in London in 1711, which depicts the ballad seller together with the female companion figure, known as Mrs Parker.
